Mantle Vase 1930s
This exceptional Mantle Vase, crafted in the 1930s by Fulham Pottery, features uniquely curved ‘hands on the hips’ handles, a sinuous body, an oval footed base, and a matte finish. Made with hand-pressed white Devon clay, it is glazed only on the interior to ensure its watertightness. The exterior is left unglazed, allowing for customizable painting to match any room. Designed in 1936/37 by William J Marriner for the Alber Ware range at Fulham Pottery, this vase was a standout piece among his other works and remained in production until 1965. Stamped with ‘Fulham Pottery’ and ‘Made in England’, it is also inscribed with F.M.A (Fulham Marriner Shape A).
