Book of Stacks, Stacks of Books
With a vision of a column of books standing at the edge of a field surrounded by trees, the American artist Jared Bark started setting up stacks of books in the greens and woods on his farm in 2012. After experimenting with the outdoor stacks, Bark migrated the project inside his studio creating a variety of stacks while playing with color, condition and style.
His stacks represent metaphorical works of art as the book’s paper represents the trees from which it was made and the ancient freestanding columns Bark experienced in Pompeii. Book of Stacks, Stacks of Books documents Bark’s artistic book towers that he has been making over the past decade.
